Poor Dusty!! What a dilemma she found herself in!! America turned sour for her, yet the invasive British Press, especially the tabloid rags, were hardly likely to encourage her return. Why does this country make a habit of creating “gods” either in sport or popular culture, only to destroy them all for the publication of a sensational headline? X

About three weeks ago, Carole Gibson sent me a photograph of Dusty's headstone in Henley churchyard. Frankly it was awful. The planter had clearly really felt the impact of the very hot weather we had experienced in the south of England. Happily, I was able to order a complete replenishment of the planter, and attached is a photograph of the 'after' situation. If any members visited during the week of Henley Regatta (the before period), what you saw then has now been changed into this lovely arrangement. As always, thank you so much to all those people who donate to enable me to commission flowers on important dates (as well as sponsor cats and donate to The Royal Marsden Trust at Christmas). Without your generosity, this group could not maintain these tributes to Dusty's memory. John
that looks lovely John, well done. The alstroemerias (orange flowers) are amazingly hardy even in the harsh Australian summer weather and will be able to be saved for other seasons and summers.

One of Dusty’s last performances and her delivery of “Where is a woman to go?” was superb!! The only incident that marred the number was the rather strange behaviour of Alison Moyet.
I am always intrigued by this cutting. I have never seen another pic of Dusty wearing this outfit.

Didn’t she write about this TV show in the DS bulletin? She couldn’t quite remember the title of the show but mentioned it was hosted by Dionne. I’m just guessing here, but Dionne Warwick used to host a tv show called Solid Gold (available in US and Canada). This may have been either the pilot or the show name before they changed it. That’s my two cents worth (even though we don’t have cents anymore in Canada lol)
